The Best Mental Health Advice I’ve ever received

About 3 and a half years ago, I learned a life lesson I'll never forget.
I was about a year into a management job I worked my ass of to get, and actively struggling with my mental health. I felt ashamed and ungrateful that I could have everything going for me in life but still be in such rough shape. Until one day, a friend gave me some important words of advice: "Treat it like you are diabetic, its a chemical imbalance. Sure it sucks, but it isn't your fault, don't make it worse by beating yourself up over it. Just focus on managing the condition and take care of yourself." At first, I had a hard time hearing it, but as time went on, those words continued to stick with me. And to this day, its been one of the most helpful things I have heard on the subject.
So, if you find yourself struggling with your mental health like I was, just remember:
It isn't your fault, you aren't a bad person, and there is hope.
